The proportions of the Golden Section were, and still are, considered to be particularly pleasing to the eye and it is claimed that many architectural buildings, objects, spaces as well as works of art including the layouts and proportions of paintings and their frames. have been designed according to these proportions. Interesting, but probably just speculation.

The standard dimensions for credit cards are 3.375 inches by 2.125 inches which represent a ratio of 1 : 1.588. Close to a golden section but not quite.
